Postdoctoral Associate - Plant Pathology & Plant Microbe Biology

Position Function

This position requires an experienced scientist to conduct research on the ecological, chemical, and the molecular mechanisms that mediate in microbe-plant-insect interactions in complex communities using model and non-model organisms. The individual is required to use tools in chemical ecology, genomics, molecular biology, and AI-driven predictive modeling in the research project. Specific duties will include: (1) gather and merge existing data from lab and literature; (2) complete experiments and synthesize data; (3) prepare monthly and yearly updates for funding agency; (4) contribute to lab duties and maintenance of lab safety; (5) complete manuscripts and grant proposal for peer review; (6) participate in outreach through advising undergraduates on research and presenting research to the public and academic audiences.

Lab Research 70%;

Computer Research 10%;

Field/Greenhouse Research 5%;

Writing and manuscripts 10%

Requirements

Required:

• PhD in Plant Biology, Entomology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Experience working with plants as part of their PhD project.
• Enthusiastic, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work with diverse teams.
• Aptitude for organization and multitasking, capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience and willingness to mentor early career scientists, including graduate and undergraduate students. Preferred:
• Experience in successful grant writing
• Experience in leadership and/or management

Supervision Exercised

This position may supervise undergraduate students and provide oversight to technical staff (Technician) in the lab.
