Job Overview

The Gift Accounting Coordinator reports to the Director of Gift Accounting and is primarily responsible for many of the accounting functions for the Office of Gift Administration. The Gift Accounting Coordinator serves as a liaison with campus departments, demonstrates an understanding of the principles of financial operational and analysis reporting, maintains a standard of accuracy and efficiency, and a significant level of confidentiality due to the sensitive donor/constituent client information as recorded in GU360 and GMS. Establishes relationships with various offices throughout the University concerning matters that affect Advancement. Maintains professionalism at all times. The Gift Accounting Coordinator must have strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, a basic understanding of Accounting, effective communication skills; initiative and strict compliance to confidentiality policies are required.

Work Interactions

The Gift Accounting Coordinator is part of the Gift Accounting team within the Office of Gift Administration. The OGA team ensures that philanthropic gifts are accepted, recorded, receipted and reported on in a timely and accurate manner. The Office of Gift Administration is a primary supporting function to the Office of Advancement and its mission and campaigns. There are no direct reports for this position. This position will also interact with fiscal officers and other financial and administrative managers in resolving monetary issues related to gift and non-gift cashiering and handling, researching transactions, and administrative tasks as they arise. This position interacts with members of the university community outside of Advancement. These include the University Comptroller and other members of the Office of the CFO, Senior Business Managers, and internal and external auditors.

The Gift Accounting Coordinator is responsible for the proper handling of cash, checks and credit card transactions that come directly to the Office of Advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma - preference for a Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
• At least 1 to 3 years related in accounting, cashier related, or other money management experience an
• Strong computer skills, particularly Excel
• High attention to detail, highly organized, ability to work independently, and proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in accounting, cash management, credit card processing, banking and/or similar financial services experience
• Experience with Salesforce, other SAP or Oracle, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) compatible accounting or record systems
