Position Title: Clinical Assistant Professor, Indigenous Studies

The forthcoming Department of Indigenous Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York is seeking a specialist in Indigenous Studies (area of focus is open) to teach up to four (4) courses per semester at the introductory and advanced undergraduate level.
The successful applicant will teach Indigenous Studies courses on an array of topics relevant to their expertise (Indigenous knowledge, Land-based learning curriculum, Introduction to Native studies, Native film and media, Indigenous women, Indigenous literature, material culture, contemporary or historic Indigenous studies). Ability to teach an Indigenous language at the undergraduate level is an asset. Depending on qualifications, the successful applicant might be considered for occasional graduate-level courses. Strong methodological Indigenous research skills are desirable.
This is a non-tenure-track position with an initial three-year appointment. This full-time appointment carries generous benefits. Future reappointments will be based on performance and College need.

PhD and prior experience in teaching Indigenous Studies courses at the post-secondary level. ABD will be considered for those who are near conferral.
Haudenosaunee language teaching education and experience. Knowledge of local Haudenosaunee history and culture. Ongoing verifiable relationships with an Indigenous community. Understanding of working with sovereign Indigenous nations.
