Visiting Faculty Positions
The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University invites applications for visiting faculty term positions beginning in fall 2021.
Architecture at Cornell dates back to the founding of the institution; it is one of the oldest programs of its kind and has a long and distinguished tradition of design, scholarship, and teaching. Degree programs in the Department include a professional B.Arch.; a professional M.Arch.; a post-professional M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design (M.S. AAD); M.S. degrees in Computer Graphics and in Matter Design Computation; and a Ph.D. in the history of architecture and urban development. The new M.S. degree in Matter Design Computation and state of the art facilities, which include the recently-opened Milstein Hall designed by OMA and the Mui Ho Fine Arts Library, reflect both a continuing commitment to design excellence and innovation as well as an ongoing renewal of architectural education at Cornell.
The duration of the visiting appointments will typically be for one semester or two semesters but may be up to three years, depending on the qualifications and interests of the candidates as well as the department's academic needs.
Applicants for the visiting faculty positions should possess a strong teaching record, graduate and/or professional degrees in architecture or associated fields, evidence of significant research and creative work in design and contemporary practice, and expertise in one or more of the following fields of investigation: architectural theory, urbanism, sustainability and environmental systems, digital media, and emergent technologies.
1. Brief cover letter including a concise statement describing areas of expertise, research focus and objectives, and approach to pedagogy
2. Brief description of possible elective seminars
3. Curriculum Vitae
4. One portfolio of design practice and/or scholarship, pedagogical materials, and student work
5. List of three references with telephone numbers and mailing/email addresses.
