Position Summary: The Department of Student Health & Counseling promotes students' optimal health, well-being, and development through the provision of high quality, integrated and holistic health services. Staffed by caring professionals, Health & Counseling offers primary health care, psychological counseling, sexual health services, and health promotion services to SUNY Geneseo students, as well as consultation, prevention, and training programs to the Geneseo community. We strive to advance the missions of the College and Division of Student and Campus Life through empowering students to be active partners in their health care, providing education and resources to foster healthy decision making and supporting students in the pursuit of their academic goals.
The primary responsibilities for the position of Senior Counselor/Psychologist are to provide brief therapy to Geneseo students, perform assessments and crisis intervention, work as a liaison with the Access to Opportunity Program (AOP) and serve as a consultant to the Geneseo community. This position will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the internship program, overseeing and coordinating the program, and supervising individuals. The Senior Counselor/Psychologist is expected to adhere to all legal and ethical standards of good practice.
This position will be filled with the title of Senior Counselor or Psychologist. Title will be determined by credentials of applicant.
This is a 10 month position with no obligation for the months of December and June.
Required Qualifications NYS license, or license eligible, (Psychologist or LCSW-R)
2-5 years post-graduate experience

Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience
Experience in a college counseling setting
Experience with Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and/or DBT.
Experience facilitating educational and psychotherapy groups Experience in specialized areas (autism, eating disorders, etc.)
Experience in training program supervision
Experience facilitating outreach programs
Experience working with diverse populations
Familiarity with electronic medical records system
The ability to manage competing priorities, time management and organizational skills.
