The Ithaca College Department of Philosophy & Religion invites applications for a tenure-eligible position as Assistant Professor of Religious Studies beginning in Fall 2020. Required areas of teaching: Hinduism and Islam. An ability to also teach in one or more of the following areas is desirable: race and religion; comparative religion; religion and gender; religion and nature; or additional areas to expand our current course offerings.

The cover letter should (i) address how candidate meets the expectations described above in the job summary and job qualifications, and briefly highlight (ii) the candidate's research focus and (iii) the candidate's teaching experience (subjects taught; frequency taught; and whether taught as teaching assistant or instructor of record).
The statement of teaching philosophy should indicate the candidate's familiarity with student-centered teaching methods and describe how the candidate will contribute to a culture of diversity and inclusion at Ithaca College.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness should include copies of evaluations of the candidate's teaching written by peers and/or advisors, if available, as well as summaries of student evaluations.
The candidate must also provide names and email addresses of three individuals who will be asked to submit letters of reference for candidates who are invited to the second round of the application process. An email containing a link to submit letters of reference will be auto-generated and sent to each of the second-round candidates’ references upon confirmation that the candidate wishes to move forward with the second round of the application process.
