Detailed Job Description
The Development and Alumni Relations Division has an opening for an Assistant Director of Development that will integrate digital engagement in order to drive leadership level gifts to the university. The assistant director will curate information from various social media platforms to engage alumni based on their interests and university priorities. The assistant director will work closely with the Assistant Director of Annual Giving to boost digital fundraising opportunities for the university. These activities will be combined with goal-based fundraising and face-to-face visits regionally and nationally.
The Assistant Director of Development works closely with College and University senior administrators, department leadership and faculty to raise the necessary support for identified priorities. He/she manages a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects, creates fundraising strategies for all prospects, develops relationships with donors, solicits major gifts above the $5,000 level and coordinates effective donor stewardship. The Assistant Director cultivates relationships with alumni, parents and other friends and collaborates with the Annual Giving, Planned Giving and Corporate and Foundation Relations teams to encourage donors to support RIT initiatives. The Assistant Director of Development reports to the Executive Director of Development and works with the Institute-wide development team on behalf of RIT.
The Assistant Director of Development is expected to work collaboratively and constantly seek ways to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward RIT alumni, parents, and friends for major level gifts from $5,000-100,000
Work collaboratively with division colleagues to develop fundraising and donor recognition strategies to effectively advance donors/prospects and meet Institute fundraising goals.
Achieve goal-based fundraising through personally managing visits per year to achieve greater results and to assist in building a pipeline for major and planned gifts for the college.
Maintain an active schedule of face-to-face visits each week.
Participate in events to enhance relationship between the university and constituents.
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree Minimum 3 years successful experience with institutional advancement, fund-raising or relationship-based sales/marketing
Able to formulate creative and effective strategies
Strong, proven written and verbal communication skills
Well organized with excellent follow-through
Demonstrated ability to be fully supportive of RITs mission
Intermediate technical and computer proficiency with appreciation for data and details
Willingness to travel locally, regionally, nationally
Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative and team-oriented setting
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy (please refer to page 4)
Salary will be commensurate with experience
