Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)
Salary: up to $44,500
The Alumni Engagement Specialist provides services, activities, and events that enable career pathways for Watson students as well as alumni through the Watson School's Career and Alumni Connections Office. This Office assists all Watson students (Bachelors, Masters and PhD) with navigating their path to rewarding employment by enabling employer/alumni connections and offering professional skills training and support. This Office also works directly with employers and alumni to connect them with our talented students.
Arranges logistical details of alumni gatherings throughout the year
Solicits and manages alumni who are interested in serving in mentorship and/or volunteer roles. Tracks activity and logs alumni volunteer service in the Volunteer Management Database
Manages the Watson Distance Mentoring platform including overseeing the marketing, student and alumni participation process, and recruitment of mentors and mentees
Promotes on-campus programs to Watson Alumni when appropriate
Supports alumni with career assistance, job search assistance, and resume review
Reports accurate number of alumni engaged throughout the year during alumni-centric programming
Research and track cluster of Watson alumni. Meet with alumni when appropriate
Develop and manage alumni programming that would be engaging to the alumni population. Work with members of the Watson Dean's Office and Watson faculty when appropriate.
Update alumni contact and employment information with BU Alumni Engagement
Notifies and coordinates with appropriate Watson and BU faculty when alumni return to campus for programming
Holds pre-determined walk-in and appointment hours for 1:1 resume review and career counseling for both currently enrolled Watson students and alumni members
Provides event coverage as needed. Attends and coordinates events both on and off campus
Assesses the satisfaction of attendees/participants and adjusts future programming based on feedback, if necessary

Two or more years of professional administrative experience
Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, organizational, and administrative skills
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, possessing tact and discretion

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Meticulous demonstrated ability to track details

Demonstrated excellence in professionalism

Able to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings
Event planning and programming experience desired
