Reporting directly to the Student Success Center Associate, as the first contact that visitors and callers have with the College/Student Success Center (Academic Advisement, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and Career Services), courteously greet and direct the general public to appropriate staff members and operate the telephone system. Perform routine clerical and typing assignments.
The following are typical responsibilities associated with this position. The specific responsibilities may vary and will be assigned accordingly by the supervisor.
Acts as a receptionist, giving information and directing the public. Gives out routine information to the public. Answers telephone calls and makes station connections. Maintains a current record of changes in office and personnel. Receives and distributes incoming messages. Receives and distributes incoming packages. Receives, sorts, and distributes mail. Performs typing and clerical duties.
Respond efficiently to general inquiries both in-person and via telephone/Receive and distribute incoming messages
Greet visitors to the Student Success Center/Notify staff as appointments arrive
Direct visitors to the College/Student Success Center to their desired campus destination
Assist students navigate relevant technology (myGCC, DegreeWorks, Blackboard, etc.)
Receive and distribute incoming messages from Student Success Center voicemail system
Maintain literature available to visitors of the Student Success Center
Assist with routine outreach efforts
Receive, sort, and distribute mail and incoming forms
Schedule appointments for Student Success Center staff
Assist with planning/facilitating Student Success programs and events
Ensure that all common areas are presentable:
Assist with set up conference rooms for meetings as necessary
Reset conference rooms
Reposition academic flags
Maintain organization in first floor kitchen
Disinfect surfaces in common areas
Other tasks as assigned by the Student Success Center Associate
As positive representatives of the College, successful candidates must have a working knowledge of office technology, procedures, and equipment; the ability to understand and successfully carry out oral and written instructions; have a clear, pleasant voice and manner of speaking; maintain tact and courtesy when working with the with the public.
Successful candidates must be enrolled in coursework at SUNY Genesee Community College, must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 at the time of hire/throughout the period of employment.

Work Schedule / Availability: Multiple positions for Summer and Fall 2019, morning availability preferred. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required. Must be available for/actively participate in scheduled training and meetings.
