Position Title: Machine Shop Experiential Instructor

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering seeks a candidate for a Research Instructor 12 mo. position (in-house title: Machine Shop Experiential Instructor). The primary purpose of this position is to improve the experiential educational experience for undergraduate students. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities: serve as instructor for six undergraduate courses each year such as: EAS 160 Engineering Machine Shop; MAE 498 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity; and MAE 499 Independent Studies in Mechanical Engineering. Provide non-credit bearing Machine Shop instruction; provide design and consultation services; machine, fabricate and assemble components and equipment; develop, design, repair, operate and/or maintain laboratory devices and apparatus; design and or modify laboratory equipment to ensure equipment meets the requirements for a laboratory procedure. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo is the largest and most comprehensive of the SUNY engineering schools. The MAE Department currently has 42 full time faculty and is expected to grow to 44 faculty within the next 3-5 years. The MAE Department is also the largest undergraduate population in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences with over 1,200 undergraduate students.

Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required. One year machining experience in a higher education environment.
