Interim Program Administrator - Latino Center - (19001082)
This is a limited appointment position until 10/31/19.
Founded in October 1993, the Latino Center has served as a place for students and community members to gather, learn, share experiences, and support Latinx cultures. The Center seeks to provide student-centered resources for inclusion, education, academic achievements, and cultural programming. The Center also functions as a home away from home among Latinx students at Tufts, providing a dedicated environment to promote acceptance, increase pride, and instill confidence in undergraduate and graduate students.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the Interim Program Administrator serves as a campus resource and supports Tufts students seeking to foster greater support for and understanding of Latinx-identities. The Interim Program Administrator works closely with students and student organizations to build leadership skills and develop relevant programming and collaborates with other university offices to provide education and programs that foster greater understanding of the experiences of current Latinx-identifying students at Tufts. The Interim Program Administrator works closely with student-facing resources and departments including other identity-based resources, residential life and learning, the CARE office, Latin American Studies faculty, and the departments within and beyond the division of student affairs. The Interim Program Administrator will serve on AS&E committees and working groups and take on special projects and other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs. Some night and weekend commitments are required. Part-time schedule may be available for selected candidate.
Knowledge and experience as typically acquired by: ● Bachelor's degree; superb judgment, demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial and oral and written communication skills; ● Three years of relevant experience supporting student growth and development within an educational setting, preferably within a selective university or liberal arts college environment; ● Awareness of how social identities will impact the experience of college students; strong background in understanding issues impacting the experience of students historically underrepresented at Tufts, including students of color, first-generation and undocumented students; and an awareness of various models for identity-based resource centers. ● Demonstrated sensitivity, imagination, and effectiveness in developing educational and community programs; facility in designing programs and resources that consider cultural constructions of race as it intersects with gender, class, ethnicity, sexual identity, religion, and ability. ● Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team; proven ability to develop and maintain productive, collegial working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni; ● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with thorough attention to detail and consistency; ability to set and attain goals while working both collaboratively and independently on various projects.
● Master's degree preferred. ● Experience working effectively with young adults/adolescents, families, faculty, senior administration and staff members within a similar higher education setting is strongly preferred. ● Experience utilizing data and assessment to inform decision making, and effective program advocacy skills are all preferred. ● Experience successfully engaging campus climate issues through co-curricular student-focused programs and leadership development a plus.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Some night and weekend commitments, including participation in the administrator-on-call rotation, required.
