Academic advising is a critical component of the program offerings and advising services developed through the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University, providing a human connection in the distance learning format. The individual advising program staff assist veterans, service members, and their families to complete skill assessments; to create a customized development plan; to provide direction through the online academic process; to offer guidance on study skills and coursework; and to counsel students on future career and other IVMF programs and services opportunities. The academic advisors are accountable for advising all individual advisees seeking career advice while acting as a mentor in all aspects of the program. Further, academic advisors support program leadership as necessary.
