Assistant Professor of Accounting

The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at The College at Brockport, State University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track position in accounting at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2019.
Major Responsibilities Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses consistent with the candidate's academic preparation and professional experience. Candidate will be required to teach courses consistent with the needs of the department's programs, including tax, auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, and forensic accounting. The successful candidate will also engage is scholarly activity, student advisement and recruitment activities and participate in service to the department, school and college.
Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. ABD candidates must earn their doctoral degree within 6 months of hire; qualified as Scholarly Academic under AACSB criteria. Alternatively, candidates with a JD and CPA or with a JD and Master's degree (MS, MAcc or MTax) in a specialized area of accounting (Accounting, Tax or Forensic Accounting) from an AACSB-accredited institution with a relevant research publication record, at least two years of teaching experience, relevant work experience as an accounting practitioner in public or private accounting and qualified as Scholarly Practitioner under AACSB criteria may be considered. Scholarly potential in accounting demonstrated by publications or high-quality work in progress and strong research plan. Ability to teach in a multi-cultural environment. Strong work ethic & commitment to continuous improvement. Demonstrable potential for, and experience in, effectively teaching graduate and undergraduate-level accounting courses. Interest in teaching in the area of tax.
Doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution. Experience with, or willingness to teach tax related courses. CPA, CFE, CMA or other professional accounting certification. Experience with, or willingness to teach in an online course modality and/or in a hybrid course format. Degree in hand by August 2019.
Department Description The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance is a collegial group of twelve full-time and about eight part-time faculty representing the three disciplines. The group is a combination of vibrant untenured and tenured scholars. Our research has been published in many prestigious journals and we have won numerous awards for our teaching and scholarship, including the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's award for Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Scholarship. We believe in shared governance and collective decision making.
