Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The University Libraries at Appalachian State University seek a dynamic and effective individual for the position of Collection Strategist. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Liaison Programs and Services, the position leads the collection assessment and development initiatives within the University Libraries and establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with faculty, students, staff, and vendors. The successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping the collection development function of the liaison program.
Lead University Libraries in designing, implementing, and maintaining a holistic vision for diverse and inclusive collections that align with university priorities for research, teaching, and learning.
Utilize a design-thinking approach to shape a sustainable, user-centered strategy for collections.
Facilitate the Collection Development function of the liaison program by coordinating collection activities, promoting communication, leading group decision-making, and organizing training.
Provide expertise and leadership for collection assessment initiatives including gathering, analyzing, and disseminating assessment data and reports.
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Prepare and monitor annual and multi-year collection budgets in collaboration with library leadership, acquisitions, e-resources, and liaisons.
Demonstrate awareness of collection development initiatives that meet the needs of diverse users and prepare all students to lead purposeful lives as engaged global citizens.
