The Liu Lab at UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences conducts research on the functional, anatomy, and evolution of hearing, and consists of both computational and wet lab components. Specifically, the experimental/wet lab component of the lab is utilizing zebrafish to build a hearing loss research model and to validate computational models. The Liu Lab is seeking a research support staff to assist with managing and overseeing experiments in the wet lab research program. The Research Support Specialist will be tasked to perform electrophysiology tests on zebrafish; monitor breeding and care of zebrafish; prepare, fix, and preserve fish specimens; assist in imaging of zebrafish; order, purchase, and organize lab supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field with one or more years of laboratory experience.
Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and willing to learn professional software. Good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills, record-keeping, laboratory supply management, team work. Self-motivated, hardworking and positive work attitude, and a passion for research.
