The Department of Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo, UBMD Pediatrics (faculty practice plan) and Oishei Children's Hospital (OCH) are recruiting a Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine. This position will have a hospital appointment through the free-standing Oishei Children's Hospital, Kaleida Health System and a university appointment with the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The ideal candidate must hold a medical degree and be board certified in both pediatrics and emergency medicine. The Division Chief will ensure a high level of cooperation and communication among his/her faculty and staff and will be personally responsible for promoting and maintaining excellence and integrity in patient care, education and research, and the enhancement of quality training in emergency medicine.
Our physicians are very involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows in our vibrant ACGME-accredited fellowship program. Our recently renovated 28-bed ED at OCH serves 45,000 pediatric patients per year, has an operational Helipad and is the only level 1 pediatric trauma center in Western New York. We welcome applicants who have a primary interest as clinicians/clinicians educators as well as candidates who are interested in basic or clinical or clinical translational research. The Department of Pediatrics is very active in the conduct of clinical trials and interested candidates would be able to take advantage of current expertise and infrastructure within the department. We have a strong tie with the Division of Adult Emergency Medicine, with clinical, teaching and research collaboration.
The successful candidate will have an appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.
