Summary of Position: The Child Care Center is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential part-time position openings. Substitute caregivers serve to provide a warm and nurturing environment in which infants, toddlers and preschoolers can grow physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
Major Responsibilities: -Interact and encourage the children in activities during the day. -Help the children control behavior using positive, appropriate approach. -Provide nurturing while helping the children become independent. -Assist the teacher in planning activities for the group and offer suggestions and information about the children. -Promote integral learning during meal times; help the children learn social skills.-Maintain good communication with parents and make each parent feel at ease with the program.-Maintain a room arrangement that is safe, inviting, interesting and stimulating.-Assist in any record keeping for the classrooms.-Be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the conditions of the program on an ongoing basis
Required Qualifications: Education, Training and/or Experience (required and preferred):Required:-High school diploma or equivalency required.-Experience and interest in working with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children (parental experience acceptable).Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:-Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and effectively with all center staff, children and parents.-Must be punctual and dependable.-Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.-Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and developmental levels of children.-Ability to pass the required physical examination and maintain required health standards.-Ability to maintain confidentiality.-Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and effectively with all center staff, children, and parents
